10 Ways to Spark Creativity When You’re in a Lull

Whenever we find ourselves in a slump or a lull period, we often wonder what we can do to rekindle our creativity and get back to work. When you search online, there are many tips you can try out, but where do you start?

Why not consider these 10 ways to kickstart your slow day?

#1 Search Online

One of the best ways to get inspiration is by searching online for ideas. You can check samples online to see what others do and get ideas for improving it.

#2 Have a Dedicated Workspace

A dedicated workspace designed to help you stay focused and inspired can do wonders for your creativity. The space should be easy to maintain and have everything you need to immediately get to work and focus once you get your inspiration back.

#3 Exercise

Exercising can actually help spark your creativity and enhance your focus. Some of the best exercises that can help you are yoga, running and jogging.

#4 Write and Share

You can also use a blog to keep yourself motivated and get feedback on your ideas from people who may be interested in your interests. As you share your blog with others, you can get a lot of traction and reach out to people who may be able to inspire you.

#5 Do Something New

Sometimes, doing something new can help you become creative in how you look at things. If you don’t know where to start, you can begin by listening to podcasts, watching to-do videos and even studying topics you don’t specialize in.

#6 Pursue Your Passion

Try doing something you are passionate about daily to help you release your stress, which may be why you can’t rekindle your creativity. You don’t have to spend hours on these activities. Just spend a few minutes on these activities, and when you are ready to work, continue.

#7 Reread Old Classics and Favourites

If you used to read books when you were younger or when you were in school, why not reread these books to get some inspiration? By looking back at these books, you can stimulate your mind and get new ideas for approaching your task.

#8 Listen to Classical Music or Music without Lyrics while Working

Are you a music lover? Why not try listening to classical music or any form of music without lyrics on it? Listening to these types of music can stimulate your brain’s right lobe, which is responsible for creativity.

#9 Brainstorming with Others

Do you have an idea you want to try but don’t know if it is viable? Discuss your ideas with another person you trust or other freelancers you work with. Sometimes, talking to someone can help you see a new perspective on the task before you.

#10 Do Something Else First

If you think you need more time to think about your current task, use the time to do other things in the meantime. When you finish these tasks, you will feel more productive and ready to return to your challenging task.

When you find yourself in a lull, don’t immediately think it is a lost cause, and do not try to restart your progress. There are ways to rekindle your creative juices, and the tips above can serve as part of your strategy. Remember to try the tips first and adjust them to match your needs. It may take a while to see results, but once you find the right strategy that works for you, you will definitely be able to overcome your lull period.
