20 Online Resources to Keep Your Kids Busy While You Work from Home

As a parent, it can be quite difficult to juggle work and ensure that our kids are occupied as you do your work. Some kids find it easy to find things they like to work on, while others can get bored easily. However, you want your children to be more than just occupied. Like I wouldn’t put my daughter in front of the television for 8 hours.

If you want some ways to get them to be having fun and yet learning something, here are 20 online resources you can introduce to them so you can do your work:

*Disclaimer: Please do not let your child be in front of the computer or iPad for more than an hour straight without take a break. Especially if they are preschoolers or younger.

1. Brainpop

This website features several educational sites that have around 1,000 short movies about various subjects like science, society, history and others that cater to K-12 students.

Aside from movies, there are also quizzes and other resources for students to check out.

2. Curiosity Stream

CuriosityStream streams several educational videos and documentaries regarding various topics from history to current events.

3. Tynker

In this platform, students are taught how to create their own programs and games. It is also a great way to learn the basics of coding and see how it works in real-time.

4. Outschool

This platform is a great resource site for students where they can join classes with other students and engage in interactive lectures.

Aside from academics, the site has classes on other great topics like pet grooming, engineering and even survival skills.

5. Beast Academy

Beast Academy helps students understand math formulas and train their critical thinking skills.

To make it more interesting for students, the site uses comic-book illustrations to illustrate these formulas better.

6. Khan Academy

This site is great for students looking for a personalized learning experience.

Students can pick the subjects they wish to learn and check out the site’s video gallery and the exercises they have prepared for these topics.

7. Creative Bug

If your child loves arts and crafts, this site will help them out because it has around 1,000 videos featuring drawing, sewing, painting, jewellery making and other related topics.

The videos are made by some of the world’s best artists, which can inspire your children to try these new fields. They are also very easy to follow and there are also workshops available for certain aspects of these topics.

This site helps K-12 students by giving them access to high-quality resources – from books to video – about various subjects like math, science, and others.

It also has resources for personal development which they can use in the future.

Preschoolers and sixth graders will love this website because it is filled with educational activities they can learn from.

The subjects vary and some of them can be key concepts like numbers, current events, and personalities.

Using cartoon characters and colourful designs, Fun Brain is a great place for kids to learn basic subjects such as math, music, grammar, geography and even foreign languages.

There are games in the site, as well as open access to great literary titles for students to learn from.

Students who love to immerse themselves in their lessons will love SplashLearn. The site is the first of its kind to use games which follow the national curriculum for Pre-K to Grade 5 students for reading and mathematics.

The system adapts to the student’s learning level and directs them to the right activities which they can train and learn from.

As its name implies, this site offers several science-related resources for students to try out and learn from.

There are great experiments on the site that students can use, as well as a visual and verbal library of scientific facts and information they can use in their classes.

Middle and high school students who want to train their math skills should check out this website.

Although it has quite a lot of ads, the site comes with an extensive list of math resources and games for students to learn from.

Storyline Online is great for students starting to learn reading and comprehension. The site has a lot of storybooks that students can watch as they are being read by the best actors in the industry.

After each storytelling video, students will be given access to study guides and activities to see how well they understood the story.

To bring out the best learning experience, I would suggest that parents can do follow up activities like arts & craft or reading related to the subject matter after your child is done with online learning.
