And.. we are back from yesterday’s interview. I do hope that you find the interview interesting and perhaps amused as well! Now sit back and relax, enjoy the rest of the interview.
Adam Sandler once said “I had my moments of being humiliated, and then I had moments of doing something humiliating. I’m glad I lived out both roles.” Is it humiliated for you when people laugh at you and your jokes? Is it difficult to swallow your pride?
I know where Adam is coming from and sometimes I do something really stupid and realize that no matter how silly I’m going to feel telling the bit on stage, I’ll do it for the laugh. I find my idiocy much easier to deal with when others think it’s funny too.
Tell us what does passion means to you.
To me, passion is a form of pure love and desire to be the best at something. Anything. A passion to be the best spouse or parent, the best at whatever you do. I take it too far and put far too much stress on myself to try to be the best at everything. Believe me, I rarely achieve that status, but I’ll always try.
Besides being a comedian, what else do you do?
I love to write. As you know, Kally, I write a blog nearly every day. I have a passion for it. I’ve also written a few books that are available on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble. I’m proud of all but two of them, but once they’re out there there’s no going back. They were my first attempts and I really had no idea what I was doing. I’m working on “The Twisted Musings of a Comedian”, volume 3 right now. It will be available soon.
I heard that recently you have your own DVD out, how exciting! Congratulations! Tell us how was the journey and what was the biggest obstacle making this DVD? So how did you overcome the obstacle?
Producing a quality comedy DVD is very difficult. Everything must be perfect. It took me 30 years to end up with a DVD of my act that I’m proud of.
Some critical factors are shooting in HD, so you end up with great quality video. The performer has to wear a microphone and there needs to be another in the showroom to capture the laughter of the audience. There can be no hecklers. The performer can never walk out of the spotlight unless it’s part of their act.
The shoot must include at least two cameras. Sometimes someone will stand up and block the shot, so it’s important to have another angle to work within the edit bay. The cameras must be of equal quality. Sometimes the second camera is different enough that it ruins the picture quality.
There can be no audio glitches either, which can be very common. In shooting this DVD, I used a very skilled technician and producer. He’s also an excellent editor. I also used a professional graphic illustrator to put together a quality cover for the case.
We shot Friday and Saturday nights and I obviously wore the same apparel both nights so he could edit from either night. Right now we’re looking for the right distribution company to get it out to as many people as possible.
Bill Francis and Mike Sealy did great work on it.
So what can we expect if we bought your DVD?
You will get my full act. It is clean, as always. You get some stories of stupid things that I and others have done, my take on marriage, aging and a host of other material, including some impressions. It’s a lot of fun!
So how and where can we get hold of one?
Right now the best way is to either connect with me on Facebook, Email or Twitter to touch base and get the details. I don’t plan on distributing them myself for long, which means that I won’t have control of the pricing. They normally sell for $25 plus shipping, but for your readers, I will offer it for only $19.99 with FREE shipping.
It’s important to know that 20% of every sale goes to The Huntsman Cancer Foundation for the treatment of patients and for research.

My pleasure! Thanks for having me. I would only add that laughter is the best medicine (other than morphine), so take the time to find a way to laugh at something every day.
