Today, we shall continue the interview of Dr Gulara Vincent, an amazing multi-talented writer. If you have not read part one, you can refer it here. And we have Something Special for everyone here, you just have to read til the end of this post to find out what!
You a writer! A prize winning one as well. Please share with us your writing journey.
I started writing in 2012 after a peak experience in my life. In December 2011, at the age of 36, I met my dad’s side of the family for the first time. My parents divorced when I was two weeks old, and I never met him. I knew he died when I was 20, but despite undergoing a lot of healing, I still longed to know more about him. So, I went to my home town and found my dad’s sister. Not only was I showered in love, but I also walked into my auntie’s 58th birthday celebration with numerous relatives. The experience was so intense that I returned to England and started writing about it to capture every detail. Once I started writing, I couldn’t stop. I got a writing mentor and wrote 24 double spaced pages every month for three years. As you can imagine, I have a lot of material. The challenge was then to shape some of those pieces into a book. This is where The Transformational Author Experience writing contest with Christine Kloser was very helpful. I wrote a book proposal and entered the contest for three consecutive years. In 2014, I was among top 30 finalists. In 2015, I made it into top 10. I wrote a blog post about this if you’d like to read more. http://gularavincent.com/2015/10/27/im-a-winner/
I noticed on your website that you offer coaching packages to women writers. Do you want to elaborate on that?
I offer two coaching packages. One of them is 90 Days to Abundance. The aim of this 3-month package is to help women writers to overcome their inner money blocks so that they could earn money through their writing and creative projects with ease and confidence. When our inner saboteurs are heard and released through gentle and powerful inner work, our external reality can shift and transform quickly. http://gularavincent.com/11-sessions-with-women-free-your-authentic-voice/
The second package is called Break-Through the Writers’ Block(s). The aim of this monthly package is to help women writers to overcome the writers’ block and have a breakthrough in their writing career. Together we can release any blocks and fears that hold you back on your writing path, breakthrough any limiting beliefs and break out of the mindset that keeps you ‘small’. http://gularavincent.com/break-through-the-writers-blocks/
Throughout April, I’m offering 30% discount on both packages to your readers, Kally. If this work resonates, drop me a line at gularav@gmail.com.
Thank you so much for your generosity, my readers will absolutely love that! Why do people need your service? What is your unique selling point?
There are many books and people who help writers to get out of a rut. No doubt they work for a short period of time. But after a while, we find ourselves blocked again. Why? Because those books and people deal with symptoms, not the cause. The real causes of our blocks may be different in each of us. It could be
a limiting belief that we’re not good enough;
fear of rejection;
fear of failure/success;
fear of exposure;
overwhelm;
self-sabotage;
negative self-talk;
procrastination.
Or a combination of several of these… I know. I’ve lived through all of the above and a few more.
So, the selling point for my service is to clear the root cause of creative and financial self-sabotage through doing inner work. By inner work I mean locating and releasing the block we’re holding in our body and consciousness that affects our ability to produce the best work we can, to stay in creative flow and to achieve the results we wish easily.
Wow! You must have helped a lot of people. What are the common problem areas you see in those people and how did you recommend to help them?
I guess money blocks is a number one issue for many women writers. Even if we may not write to make money, the need to pay the bills can undermine how much time and energy we can spend on the actual writing.
Feeling blocked is another area of concern for writers. And it’s not like we can’t write – we can string words together. It’s just they are not entirely happy with the quality of what they produce or they can’t finish a project and move forward.
Could you please share with us one significant 1:1 case that left a deep impression on you?
I can share many examples of people’s transformation, even after having a one-off session. For example, one writer who hasn’t been writing for a while started writing regularly after our session, won a competition, and moved forward in her writing career. Another writer who struggled to put her work out for 12 years has finally approached agents and got their interest in her novel.
You can read some testimonials on my website. This work is truly amazing.
You are truly amazing! Any last words for our readers here before you go?
Keep writing and growing. It’s deeply rewarding. And you never know who is reading your work, and can get inspired by your experiences and expertise.
