A New Year, A New Beginning

As the new year dawn upon us, we should look back in the past year and congratulate ourselves for accomplishing milestones, big or small or tiny.

Whether you left a comment in MiddleMe or like one of my many posts in 2019, a big thank you for your contribution and continuous support.

Here are my 3 simple resolutions for 2020:

#1 I will spend more time with my family

Juggling with freelancing gigs, MiddleMe and chores do leave me very little time with my little 2 years old toddler and my husband. Last year, I only went back to Singapore less than 5 times to see my parents and sister.

Focusing on homeschooling my child will take a priority as we really enjoy bonding over lessons especially the snuggling during reading time. The older she gets, the more inquisitive she is and the more she wants to learn.

Together, we are also learning a new language, Bahasa Melayu. This, among many things has opened up my eyes and learned so much new stuff. Teaching her is as good as teaching myself too.

I have started to make some adjustments to my schedule and will carry it over to 2020.

#2 I will spend more time on myself

Time is so limited when you have so much to accomplish. But you can’t achieve anything if you push yourself too hard. So in 2020, I’m going to stop touching my Mac and reaching for my iPhone so much and focusing on creating pockets of time for myself. This means grabbing time to nap, to read a book and even to daydream a little.

I will try to be a little more selfish in giving away my precious time and a little more generous in loving myself. I have started to put my daughter in an awesome play school every fridays for 4 hours so I can do the errands that I always wanted to do but couldn’t bring her with me. Like getting a haircut, going for a dental appointment, getting massages and facials.

It is just not fair to have her sit there for hours watching me getting my treatments done and I couldn’t relax completely to immerse the experience. And weekends are precious to us as bonding time as a family unit.

#3 I will focus on my book

I really need to start on my book. Well, I have heeded some very good advice given by you all here. I have drafted an outline, pull and revamp some of my articles here to be featured in the book. But more shall be done in 2020!

As for MiddleMe in 2020, I will continue to write better and widely to support thirsty readers like yourself. I am determine to read more new posts of yours so I can learn and improve myself as well as to know you better. I will spend time to take up new online courses so I can spread the knowledge around.

So what are your resolution in the New Year? Share with me in the comments right below.
