Are You an Introvert? 12 Best Jobs for Introverts

When it comes to work, personalities often work together even if they tend to clash.

I have worked with plenty of different personalities over the years. Whether one is an introvert and the other an extrovert, they will do their best to succeed on the task given to them. However, it can be observed that there are positions that draws certain personalities and excel in it.

For introverts, here are some of the best jobs you can check out:

Landscape Designer

Know your way around plants and know how to sort them out to create beautiful landscapes? A landscape designer is the one that makes sure that outdoor spaces are aesthetically pleasing and still sustainable.

Often a landscape designer work alone and communicate his ideas directly to his clients. More often than not, clients will list what they vision in their own gardens and leave the aesthetic part to the designer.

This is a good career to pursue if you don’t want to work in a team and prefer to work alone (just take on smaller and manageable projects).

Content Manager

Content managers are the ones in charge of managing content for a company. They do the editorials and other content that is aligned to the company’s goals. They are also the ones who handle content writers, editors and strategists and ensure the right content is delivered.

You will feel in control and comfortable within a small team of writers, editors and strategists. Sometimes, there will be a need to talk to clients however, it will be more of the clients’ directions than require you to express yourself too much.

Editor

To ensure that content is correct and free from errors, editors review the content. They also ensure that the facts are accurate and the content aligns to the company’s standards.

As much as editors requires to communicate with writers, often than not, those communications will be reflected in writing than face to face. And you are kept within a small and regular group of people that you need to talk with.

Graphic Designer

Graphic designers are the ones who creates stunning visual content to match the information being delivered. Some of the things they create include websites, magazines, and even applications.

Bigger firms will have their own sales and media representatives to convey clients’ desires to you. Some even have their own sales presenters and you can keep yourself out of presenting your designs to the clients.

Librarian

Lovers of books will definitely love being a librarian. They are the ones tasked to sort books and other content, as well as update the library database. Librarians also do administrative jobs like checking the budget, supervise the staff and hold library activities.

If you like to be alone and treasure your quiet peace, this is definitely the job for you.

Mechanic

For those who are mechanically savvy, being a mechanic is the way to go. They tackle vehicle maintenance and repair any damage it ay have.

Mechanics must also be familiar with a variety of techniques, tools and gear. Some mechanics may even specialize in certain vehicles depending on their preference.

You may be surprise to learn that many mechanics are socially awkward and may not like to converse in a large group, preferring to deal directly one on one with the client.

Social Media Manager

Like Content Manager, Social Media managers are the ones who organize social media campaigns and manage a company’s social media accounts. They also are the ones behind social media campaigns and answer questions from followers behind the screen.

Unlike stressful projects like event coordinator has to oversee, social media usually is confined within the boundaries on what goes on online.

Software Engineer

Software engineers are the ones who design various software programs for a variety of purposes. They are also the ones who test new software and make them more efficient. Software engineers can specialize in a variety of fields like databases, and operating systems.

I know a lot of Software Engineers personally and they are a quiet (but smart) brunch of people who loves to deal with programming codes rather than politics.

Technical Writer

In general, writers keep to themselves especially if their brains are running through ideas. I know I attract stares when I spaced out in the public when an idea pops into my head.

Technical writers are the ones who handle technical articles like instruction guides and formal documents. They also ensure that these contents can be converted to content that is easy to read and understand. They also double as editors, especially for the content they make.

A combination of software engineers and editors, technical writers are often thinking in codes and technical terms.

IT Manager

To ensure that the database of each company is safe and always operational, IT managers takes care of it. They look into the software and hardware used by the company. They also direct the company’s IT staff and tackle troubleshooting inquiries.

As much as IT managers do have to manage people, you are doing in a familiar ground in a familiar context where your team speak the same language.

Researcher

Buried in books, researchers are often left alone or work in a tiny group to gather facts to support a certain situation or back up a certain claim.

If you like googling online or reading up facts, this job is well suited for you. Many researchers I know progress into having their own research department and commanding a substantial salary.

Scientist

When I think of introverts, I can’t help but to think of Sheldon and Leonard from The Big Bang Theory.

Like the show, scientists often work alone or alongside with a smaller group of scientists. They do not need to communicate much outside of their circles and are most comfortable in their own scientific language.

Conclusion

The list we listed above are just some of the job opportunities introverts can try out and excel in. But, before you sign up for these tasks, make sure to remember to do your research. Each job has certain requirements and skills and it is important you have them.
