Face to Face with New Challenges

From time to time, life throws you unexpected surprises and there could only be two reactions: either you cringe /whine /lament on the situation or you relish the challenge the change is going to bring. I often find myself throw at the steep curveball of new challenges where I need to adapt quickly or drown in the situation. Wallowing in misery is never an option because I find it is a waste of time to wallow in something that couldn’t be changed. However, in your hands, you might be able to veer the situation into a balance of win-win.

To do that, first of all, keep your attitude in check. Facing a new challenge head on is tough enough but to burden yourself with negativity will make the task impossible. So charge towards the challenge beaming with sunshine and positivity, you may still have difficulty facing the challenge but you’ll feel so much better than letting yourself down with negativity.

Hands up and ask for support for things get too tough to handle. Nobody rules that you have to conquer new challenges yourself. Get help when you feel overwhelmed. We all do need each other’s advice and support every now and then. At a workplace, just grab a coworker for assistance or even seek guidance from your boss. It is much better and productive than to bang your head against the wall, trying to figure how to unravel the challenges on your own.

Don’t be afraid of what’s to come. Instead, treat every new challenge as a new adventure or a life lesson. I always thought of challenges as a way to test or raise my own limitation, it can be powerfully satisfying when you push yourself hard and made it through the ordeal without a scratch and accomplish a gazillion. So stand up to new challenges and look them in the eye without trying to slink away.

Perseverance is a virtue when it comes to facing new challenges. You may be enthusiastic about conquering the obstacles, however, falter at the first sight of trouble. But challenges have its own…well, challenge. Anything that is simple enough to put together by my 3 months old daughter will not be called a challenge.

It is extremely rewarding when you overcome a tough challenge and the satisfaction is overwhelming. And the lessons learned while conquering your fear is priceless.
