Happy New Year & Happy Updates!

Okay, this is wayyyyy long overdue, and some of you have decided that I am kidnapped by Martians and probably enjoying life on Mars, skinny dipping into a pool of lava and sipping down cocktails. Unfortunately, no. I’m still residing on Earth, but I have HUGE updates for all of you.

Repatriation

First one up – I am back home in Singapore! We shifted everything home from Kuala Lumpur – the furniture, the clothes, the kids and, of course, our cats. Spend massive money to move all of them in April. It took a toll on my mental health with the craziness of logistics and major homesickness about missing Malaysia.

With the pandemic with the closed travel borders meaning no visits from our parents, we decided that it was a clear indication that we should move back. At least to provide a childhood for our children with grandparents and relatives. Plus, education for Audrey, my 5 year old, is much better in Singapore at an affordable cost and with more choices.

Suppose you asked me if I will ever uproot and relocate again in the future. I will if the location is right for us. Living overseas has taught me to appreciate different cultures, embrace differences and be more humble (and less self-entitled). I will elaborate in my future posts on why I felt this way.

Entrepreneurship

When one door closes, others will open wide. I have always emphasised that opportunities are not limitless. You just have to open your eyes to hidden opportunities. I had 3 different offers to start my own business. I choose to go with the one that will reward me with challenges in an industry that I am unfamiliar with, yet my skills are sought after.

I am now a co-partner in a personal branding company that helps real estate professionals to brand themselves instead of relying on flyers (go green!) and advertisements (hard sell!). The goal is to help them reach a wider audience, leveraging their network and gaining the spotlight of being a property expert.

In my early 40s, I no longer had the physical endurance to work more than 60 hours a week, but I made up with my tenacity to persevere, be humble, learn new skills from scratch, and open my mind to listen to feedback.

I am proud to say that the company is on track with growth; we are now overwhelmed with clients and fully booked until March this year.

My Book

I know many of you can’t wait for my book to be ready. It is out now! In short, it is a guidebook based on my journey to empower myself financially and career-wise through freelancing. To learn more about what my book is about, please go here. Meanwhile, I appreciate any feedback, review or comment on my first book.

If you love to review my book on your website, I’d love to hear from you! to give you a free copy to review.

If you know anyone who will benefit from my book, whether it is a charity that works with women and mothers or you personally know someone who will need but can’t afford my book, I am delighted to work something out with them. Just email me at kally@middleme.net, and I’ll get back to you.

Thank you so much for all the support, encouragement and love you have given MiddleMe and me. I’m truly blessed to be able to do what I love, surrounded by so much care in the world.

Until I hear from you, take care and have a blessed holiday and a wonderful brand-new 2023! Everything gets better, for sure!
