Healthy Habits to Help You Stay Healthy in your WFH Life

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced many companies and businesses to shift their operations online. While there have been improvements in the cases due to the vaccinations and strict health standards still enforced outdoors, employers are not taking any chances. They have asked many of their workers to work from home until there is a significant improvement in the cases.

Although working from home does sound appealing, it can be exhausting in the long run. When this happens, your productivity decreases and affects the way you view work. Fortunately, there are ways to improve one’s work from home and make it more fun and healthy.

Here are some great habits you can work on to improve your work from home life:

Take A Break From The PC

Since meetings are now done online through video conferencing sites like Zoom, Skype and Webex, it can get draining because you have to pay careful attention to the people speaking on the call, and you have to do it every hour at most.

Make sure to take short breaks away from your computer to recover from the meetings and see if you can make your virtual meetings a phone meeting or an email conversation.

Schedule In Breaks

Some believe that working from home will help you be more productive. However, as you become focused on work, you may find yourself exhausted because of that drive to keep working.

To prevent this, make sure to put day-offs in your calendar and do something different during these days. Do something fun during these breaks before getting back to work.

Break Down Tasks

Many distractions will affect your focus at home, like your chores and the people living with you. If you have tasks for work that you want to focus on, pick one big task and divide it into smaller tasks to make it easier for you to complete it. You can take breaks in between to help you recover.

Have A Routine

Work from home allows one to work at any time they wish. However, this can be a problem if you want to stay healthy and productive during this work setup.

An excellent way to prevent any issues during this setup is by creating a routine that will easily help you get from ‘rest mode’ to ‘work mode’. A great tip for this is following the same schedule you had while still working in the office.

Spend Time With Family And Friends

For people who love being with others and interacting with them in person, working from home can be a scary experience. It can get too lonely because you are on your own in your workspace.

To prevent yourself from becoming too lonely and feeling isolated, don’t hesitate to take a break and reach out to your family and friends. You can also listen to podcasts and even playlists to copy your office environment.

Create Your Ideal Workspace

Make sure that you have a workspace at home that you can use for work. It must be a place free from distractions and help you focus on your work.

Once you are finished working, you should leave all the thoughts of work in the space and focus on yourself. This way, you can achieve a work-life balance and have a healthier work environment.

Not For Everyone…

Work from home or remote work is not for everyone; however, it is here to stay whether we like it or not. If you are going to shift to remote work or are currently looking for ways to improve your setup, don’t hesitate to try the tips we listed above. It will take some time to perfect your WFH habit, but it will make everything more manageable once you get the hang of it.
