Tired of Zoom Meetings Try These Solutions Instead

Since the pandemic started almost two years ago, most of us found ourselves having to go to countless Zoom meetings to keep up with our work while at home. However, it can be very draining to do it every day because of the lack of direct interaction between coworkers and internet constraints that makes Zoom meetings hard to manage.

Fortunately, there are ways to get past the Zoom meeting exhaustion that you are getting right now while you are doing remote work and down below are some great alternatives you can try out:

Use Emails

Before scheduling another meeting, why not consider the topic discussed. Is it that hard to discuss through email?

If it is not hard to email the instructions, email them instead of scheduling the Zoom call. You can then add in the email that they can contact you directly if there are problems that they want to follow up with you about the topic.

Direct Messages Work Too

Direct messages can be the best option if you want to set up a casual meeting or ask questions unrelated to work. Lots of companies use chat programs to communicate with coworkers.

Make sure to stay professional when you send them a message unless you know them well or the other person starts with a casual tone. Avoid emojis as well. You may be having eggplant salad over lunch, but sending an eggplant emoji will be 100% inappropriate!

Send Videos

If you are going on Zoom to train others, why not record it in a video?

You can record yourself conducting the lessons in Zoom and send the link to the rest of the team. You can edit these videos as condensed as possible and then let the team ask you questions through a separate call.

Use Document Markups

For report edits and feedback, you can utilize the “Suggesting” or “Editing” mode for Google Docs to add your input or modifications to the document you are working on.

Your feedback and edits will be seen by everyone who has the link, and in case you have to do the same type of document in the future, your team can look back into the document to see how they can prevent common mistakes in the future.

Use The Phone!

Also, you can continue your meetings through the phone like in the good old days. Phone calls are perfect for one-on-one conversations that won’t require notes and other facts to be quoted as you talk. However, if you have more than a 4-persons meeting, a phone discussion may not be a good idea.

Conclusion

Since remote work is now a staple to many industries, it can be challenging to eliminate Zoom meetings altogether. But, you can reduce the amount of time you spend in Zoom with alternatives that can still deliver the information you want to share to others just as well.

Try playing with the other options we listed above and see how they can be incorporated into your remote work setup. Once you find the right balance, you will notice that your Zoom calls won’t be as taxing as before.
