Change is inevitable in our current society and economy. In fact, there are only three ways going about change. Either you lead the change, you follow the change like everyone else, or change drags you. The leaders of the world are always fighting to lead the change because the successful ones who do, become rich, famous and in power. The most of us, we follow the changes by adapting, learning and evolving through challenges, improvements and ambition. The most worrying part is that we do know people that we care about that are dragged by change. They are consistently chasing to keep up or struggling to move forward.
So how do you know which category do you fall into? Here are some indications that will help you to identify.
Lead The Change
You prefer to stand out
You feel passionate about your work
You can defend your job and your decisions
You can justify your reasoning and judgements
You constantly challenge the norm
You constantly have ideas and suggestions to contribute
You are bored with conformity
You probably work longer hours than anyone else
You know what you have to do to stay ahead
You network regularly to tap on others creativity and ideas
You enjoy taking on solo projects or teamwork projects as long as you can lead
You take on extra work that will impact changes and make a difference
Follow The Change
You don’t follow blindly, but you don’t want to be left out as well
You can justify the bigger picture and is comfortable following the lead as long as you believe
You believe you can stand up and say no but most of the time, you will follow suit unless it is unreasonable or unrealistic.
You are well adapt to change
You evolve much quicker than any of the other two groups
Sometimes you find ways to leverage the situation and take lead of the change
You know what you have to do to be aligned with your peers
You always sign up and participate in training and courses to improve yourself
You contribute ideas during meetings
You enjoy teamwork in a project environment
You take on extra work where you can learn and challenge yourself

You have been in the same position and same role for more than three years
You don’t think much about where you will be in the next 3 to 5 years
You avoid additional work like the plague
You don’t like taking on projects
You prefer to take a supporting backseat than to be in the limelight during projects or events
You think extra training and courses are eating into your personal time
You are happy with your position and salary and don’t think life can get any better
You are quiet during meetings
You are okay with your younger peers surpassing you in promotions and increments
You are not angry if you are overlooked for an opportunity
